The Dmitri Hvorostovsky Competition will pay tribute to one of the greatest Russian baritones of all time and take place in Krasnoyarsk, in the singer’s hometown.
From 29th of June to 5th of July 2020 the Siberian city will become an international hub for young singers and prominent figures of musical art gathered from around the globe to celebrate Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s life impact and discover opera stars of the new generation.
Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s home city will become the place of a momentous event of global importance with aimed of preserving and propagating the unique musical heritage of the outstanding Russian singer, whose fame has spread far beyond all imaginable frontiers.
Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s remarkable creative life and history have already become part of the world cultural heritage, the fact of allows to put special emphasis on the international status of the Competition.
The Competition is held every two years on the even years in the city of Krasnoyarsk and forms the part of the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Festival.
The Festival is founded with the support of Lyudmila and Alexander Hvorostovsky, the singer’s parents, and is held by the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk region, the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Foundation for Promotion of Arts and a general patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Krasnoyarsk Region Government.
Anton Levahin is the Artistic Director of the Festival & Competition.
The Competition Jury includes prominent figures of musical art, opera houses intendants and heads of musical institutions and creates an outstanding professional opportunities for young singers from all over the world.
The Award money of 200 000 Euro provides exceptional support for the contestants and their international carrier development.

Benefits & Compensations
The Jury reserves the right to admit the first-prize winners of the Competitions, Members of the World Federation of International Competitions, and the All-Russian Music Competitions directly to the Round I after receiving the supporting documents.
The Administration reimburses the travel expenses to the Contestants selected to participate in the Round I, the Round II, the Round III.

CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS
The Competition is open to all singers from all over the world between the age of 18 and 35.
The candidates wishing to participate in the Competition are obliged to take part in the Qualifying Round (based on online live video selections or live auditions – on the Candidates’ discretion).
The Jury reserves the right to admit the first-prize winners of the Competitions, Members of the World Federation of International Сompetitions, and the All-Russian Music Competitions directly to Round I after receiving the supporting documents.
The application for participants in the Qualifying Round of the Competition must be submitted on the official
website www.hvorostovskyfestival.com.
The applications for the live auditions will be accepted until no later than 5 (five) working days before the actual
date of the such audition, in accordance to the schedule on the
website www.hvorostovskyfestival.com.
Within 5 (five) working days after receiving applications for the Competition the Administration will send an email with the confirmation of the received application and the admittance of the candidate to the Qualifying Round.
The number of participants is limited: we recommend early and complete application.

The applications with the attached video recording must be submitted by the 1st of May 2020.
Only those candidates, who have submitted all the necessary application documents and materials are allowed to participate in the Competition.
Those passing the qualifying round are allowed to participate in the Round I.
The number of Contestants for the Round I and the Round II are determined by the Jury.
No more than 12 singers will be allowed to participate in the Round III.
The results of the Round III will be announced by the Chairperson of the Jury at the award ceremony.

Qualifying Round The qualifying round is based on the live auditions or video preselections according to the Contestant’s discretion.

The Programme of the Qualifying Round must include: / Two arias of different character / Chamber-vocal work
The Candidate’s performance has to be held with his/her own accompanist.
Auditions will be held in the presence of two members of the Jury and by means of the video broadcast for the third Jury member.
Round I
The venue: The Chamber Hall of the Krasnoyarsk Philharmony.
The dates: 29-30 June 2020.
The programme of the Round I:
/ An aria from any opera, cantata, oratorio by the European composer from the XVII-XVIII centuries
/ An aria from any opera by the Russian composer from the late XVIII-XIX centuries. The performance is held with the piano accompaniment
The duration is up to 15 minutes.
Round II The venue: The Chamber Hall of Krasnoyarsk Philharmony.
The dates: 1-2 July 2020. The programme of the Round II:
/ An aria from any opera by the European composer from the XIX-XX centuries / An aria from any opera by the Russian composer from the XIX-XX centuries / A folk song (a capella performance is allowed) / Chamber-vocal work
The performance is held with the piano accompaniment.
The duration is up to 20 minutes.
Round III – final audition with the Krasnoyarsk State Symphony Orchestra
The venue: The Great Hall of the Krasnoyarsk Philharmony.
The date: 5 July 2020.
The programme of the Round III must include two arias at Contestant’s discretion that weren’t performed in previous Rounds.
The duration is up to 20 minutes.
The Contestants of the Competition are required to observe the following dress-code:
Round I and Round II– elegant
non-concert clothes (dress for women and suit for men);
Round III – evening dress for women and tuxedo or tails for
men.

application - Who can apply?
The application for participants in the qualifying round of the Competition must be submitted on the offcial website www.hvorostovskyfestival.com in the section «Competition/Apply»
The candidates wishing to participate in the Competition are obliged to take part in the qualifying round. The qualifying round is based on the live auditions or video preselections according to the Contestant’s discretion.
The candidate desiring to participate in the qualifying rounds by means of video recording must submit such recording of the works indicated in the paragraph 3.1 of Competition Regulations (non digitally mastered recording, made in the Competition year by one fixed camera without interrupting of the performance of the each piece and showing the singer as he/she can be seen from the audience prospective).
The video recording has to be attached to the application in a form of web-link. Candidates must bear the responsibility for the functioning of such web-links.
The applications with the attached video recording must be submitted by the 1st of May 2020.
Upon the application submission the candidate must pay a non-refundable registration fee of 75 EURO or its equivalent in RUR or USD.
The application fee is payable electronically
by using the credit cards on the website www.hvorostovskyfestival.com.
Those passing the qualifying round are allowed to participate in the Round I.
